1. What is Clean Energy and what are the sectors within Clean Energy?
Clean Energy refers to the industry involving the research & development of alternative energy sources that are less harmful to the environment compared to traditional sources such as fossil fuels. Some examples of Clean Energy include solar power, wind energy, fuel cells, hydropower, and biomass.
2. Why Clean Energy?
The convergence of high oil prices, climate change concerns and energy security interests have fostered a surge of interest in renewable and clean energy technologies. Singapore has identified several clean energy sectors for focused development, including solar, fuel cell, biofuels, and energy efficiency solutions. As such, opportunities are tremendous for Singaporean companies willing to venture into this fast emerging industry.
3. What is Clean Energy Testbedding Community (CETC)?
The SBF Clean Energy Testbedding Community (CETC) is jointly established by Singapore Business Federation (SBF) and Temasek Polytechnic (TP) to complement the effort of the SBF Sustainable Development Business Group (SDBG) and Singapore Fuel Cell Community (FCC). The CETC, supported by Economic Development Board (EDB), aims to foster business and technological cooperation to test bed and pilot fuel cell, solar energy and other clean energy technologies and applications for adoption.
4. Why CETC?
CETC leverages on the extensive local and global business network of SBF, as well as the technical expertise of TP and the FCC, to provide complete clean energy solutions from a business and technological point of view.
Members of the CETC can easily gain access to state-of-the-art and practical technology and solutions to meet their business needs as well as to seek possible collaborations and expansions into foreign markets.
5. What are the objectives of CETC?
To drive the adoption of fuel cell and other clean energy technologies.
To actively promote, engage and support SBF members in identifying, piloting and testbedding ideas and prototypes.
To collaborate with partners to help raise the profile of fuel cell and other clean energy technologies through the organization of seminars, dissemination of information, business listing, etc.
To continually identify new and emerging testbedding ideas in the larger context of clean energy technologies adoption.
To seek government funding for SBF-TP test-bedding/adoption initiatives.
6. Who is SBF Sustainable Development Business Group (SDBG) and who is Fuel Cell Community (FCC?)
SBF Sustainable Development Business Group (SDBG) is formed with the vision of being the leading representative of SBF member companies with commercial and adoption interests in the clean energy sector, through facilitating the adoption and implementation of clean energy solutions amongst SBF members. It is also a valuable platform where companies can source for potential partners, projects and funding, and serve as an information hub in the area of clean energy.
The Singapore Fuel Cell Community (FCC), launched in March 2007, is initiated and supported by the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB) and hosted by Temasek Polytechnic (TP). It aims to spearhead the growth of a dynamic and vibrant community of partners, technopreneurs and start-ups to stimulate the development of market-driven and innovation-led fuel cell and clean energy products and solutions.
7. Who is eligible to join the CETC?
Membership in the CETC is open to SBF companies with adoption and commercial interests in the clean energy sector.
For non-member companies interested to participate, they will be required to join as an associate member of SBF, details of which can be found at

Other CETC companies include companies from Fuel Cell Community (FCC) with clean energy solutions for adoption.
8. Are there any fees/costs involved in joining the CETC?
No, there is no membership fee in joining CETC if you are a SBF member company. For non-SBF member company interested to participate, you will be required to join as an associate member of SBF, details of which can be found at

9. What are the benefits of joining the CETC?
There are numerous benefits of joining the CETC:
Industry network and business partnership
Companies will gain from access to business, industry and market contacts as well as business and technology partnership opportunities through the commercialization and adoption of clean energy solutions actively facilitated by CETC. For a start, 5 projects each will be identified in the first year and second year of formation of the CETC.
Business & technology support
Companies will gain from the full suite of business and technology support by SBF Sustainable Development Business Group (SDBG) and TP Fuel Cell Community (FCC) in their project testbedding and implementation via CETC.
Companies in CETC can tap on business solutioning support from SBF Sustainable Development Business Group (SDBG) in the form of business feasibility study, business requirements specifications, project ROI study, funding needs analysis and the liaison for regulatory approval.
Companies in CETC can also tap on technology solutioning support from TP Fuel Cell Community (FCC) in the form of technical feasibility study and specifications, design of tailored/customized solutions and consultancy support.

Companies will be able to gain access to various sources of funding, including
Government - NEA and Spring Singapore funding
